It’s time for Wurstfest! Plan to go with Tour Austin!
Enjoy Wurstfest with Tour Austin!
Dig your lederhosen out of the back of your closet. Wurstfest is coming, and Tour Austin is ready to take an already fantastic event to the next level.
Why attend Wurstfest?
When November comes, the rest of the country breaks out the pumpkin spice creamer and prepares to hunker down with Netflix. But Texans, when not watching football, are still attending outdoor festivals during November. One of our favorites is a 10-day party held right down the road in New Braunfels. And although it has gone through several name changes throughout the decades, we lovingly refer to it as Wurstfest.
Although the name would imply that Wurstfest is another food festival, it is much more than that. Wurstfest celebrates all things German, not just the sausage. You’ll experience German music and dancing, Alpine and Bavarian-style entertainment and games, exciting carnival rides, and (of course) German beer. Maybe we should have led with that.
Are you ready to go?
The History of Wurstfest
New Braunfels’ meat inspector, Ed Grist, organized the first sausage celebration to celebrate the tasty tube meats that were made throughout the area. The year was 1961, and since then the party has grown to the 10-day event that we celebrate now. As you and your friends sample some of the tasty German ale, don’t forget to toast good old Ed Grist, whose love of a good sausage gave us an excuse to party almost 58 years later.
This year’s festival is scheduled for November 1 through November 10, and Tour Austin would love to help you and your friends celebrate. Not only will we drive a party bus to and from the event, but we will also throw in lots of extras to enhance your Wurstfest experience.
Wurstfest with Tour Austin
We don’t want to give away all of our secrets, but the “extras” may include fun Wurstfest apparel and appropriate snacks for you to enjoy on your journey between Austin and New Braunfels. Of course, as with most of our tours, we will also provide the coolers full of ice for you to store your German drinks. Feel free to enjoy a few beers during the journey. Our professional drivers will get you there safely.
Speaking of our professional drivers, they will maneuver through the crazy Texas traffic to the festival grounds that are located about an hour south of Austin. Our drivers do this for a living. They aren’t just weekend drivers who lackadaisically decided to make a few extra bucks each week to earn some beer money. Our professional drivers will transport you and your party in our luxurious party buses. We will worry about finding a place for the van in the limited parking at the festival. Most importantly, our drivers will abstain from drinking during the festival, so you don’t have to.
The festival will run all day on weekends and during the evening hours Monday through Friday, November 1 through the 10th. For specific times and information about ticket prices, visit the festival website. You can also call the festival hotline at 800-221-4369.
Please note, you may want to bring cash to the festival as not all the vendors may accept credit or debit cards. It is important to know that admission and drink ticket sales are cash only. There is an ATM on the grounds.
There’s plenty of seating at Wurstfest, so leave your bag chairs at home as well. They are not allowed on festival grounds. You’ll spend most of your time on your feet anyway dancing to the polka music.
The festival will continue rain or shine, so dress and plan accordingly. Speaking of dress, break out your dirndls and lederhosen. Others will be wearing theirs, and you know you were looking for an excuse to wear them since Halloween only comes once a year.
